Support 1% for the Tetons
1% for the Tetons is a project of the Charture Institute, a Jackson, WY-based IRS 501(c)3 charitable organization.
1% for the Tetons is structured this way because support from the Charture Institute allows 1% for the Tetons to devote its limited resources to growing the organization.
Where does 1% for the Tetons get its operating funds? Through fundraising. Since its inception, 1% for the Tetons has chosen to put 100% of its members’ donations into grant-making, and look elsewhere for the funds it needs to grow.
Because of this approach, 1% for the Tetons has three categories of supporters.
- Members are businesses which donate at least one percent of their annual sales to 1% for the Tetons. Members’ donations fund the grants 1% for the Tetons awards to projects working to sustain the Tetons region.
- Friends are businesses which donate less that one percent of their annual sales, and individuals who donate any amount. Friends’ donations help fund 1% for the Tetons’s operations.
- Community Liaisons are individuals who volunteer time to help spread the word about 1% for the Tetons. Community Liaisons’ contributions range from talking about 1% for the Tetons with their friends to encouraging businesses they patronize to become members.
