1% for the Tetons was inspired by the organization created in 2001 by Yvon Chouinard, environmental activist and founder of Patagonia, Inc., and Craig Mathews, owner of Blue Ribbon Flies - 1% for the Planet. Given the challenges facing our planet- from the global to local scale - these organizations provide a venue for businesses to give back to their environments, creating a tangible tie between economic prosperity and environmental sustainability.

1% for the Tetons is the first of such efforts to create a locally-based chapter of 1% for the Planet. Projects funded by 1% for the Tetons will be determined by a granting committee, which will review the needs identified by Sustaining Jackson Hole participants. SJH is a community-based initiative to identify the qualities we, as a community, would like to leave for future generations of Jackson Hole visitors & residents.
